To be a good human volunteer, we recommend you:
- Have a great partnership with your pet
- Are comfortable in a nursing home environment
- Are available at least once a month for a weekday visit
- Have homeowner’s or related insurance to cover your visits
To be a good animal volunteer, we recommend your pet is:
- Obedient, socially friendly, and has a calm temperament
- Tolerant of being touched, sometimes roughly, with no retaliation
- Able to handle unusual events, sights, and sounds
- Able to walk calmly on a tight leash without jumping on people (large pet)
- Able to be carried around camly in a basket (small pet)
- Current on all vaccinations with written proof from your veterinarian
