Frequently Asked Questions > What is a Typical P.A.L.S. Visit Like?

During a typical visit, the P.A.L.S. team and the child they are working with sit in a comfortable spot on the floor. After hellos, the child begins reading. As the child reads, the handler asks the child comprehension, vocabulary, and pronunciation questions, framing them as questions for the dog. For example, "Mulligan is getting pretty excited! Can you tell him what you think will happen next?" Or, "Mulligan wonders why you think that?" Or, "Mulligan can’t read that word, it is too difficult. Can you tell him how you would sound it out?"
